Description
Where does Tasmanian pepper come from?
Tasmanian pepper (also known as mountain pepper) is an evergreen shrub that grows to a height of 2–3 metres. The plant grows exclusively in the damp, cool valleys and gorges of the rainforests of Tasmania and New South Wales in south-western Australia.
The annual harvest of these wild Australian peppers is very small. Tasmanian pepper has a fruity and sweet initial flavour, followed by a surprisingly intense heat.
Some people enjoy spicy food, and if you’re one of them, you’ll fall in love with our Tasmanian pepper – it really isn’t for the faint-hearted! Tasmanian pepper is spicier than ordinary black pepper. The peppercorns have a fruity sweetness that gives way to an intense burst of heat.

Discover how Tasmanian pepper transforms your home-cooked meals
This gem from Australia has many health benefits, including for the skin, and it could be just the missing ingredient that makes your home-cooked meals truly special.
What does Tasmanian pepper smell like?
Tasmanian pepper has a distinctive and exotic aroma with spicy notes, and a hint of cinnamon on its peppery base. In terms of flavour, it offers a slightly woody yet fruity taste that adds a vibrant, exciting twist to your dishes.
How can you use Tasmanian mountain pepper?
Tasmanian pepper can be used in certain skincare products. Eating it nourishes both your skin and your whole body. Tasmanian pepper is best stored in a sealed glass jar to keep out moisture. That way, the peppercorns will taste superb every time.
Tasmanian pepper leaves and berries add the best flavours when you add them towards the end of the cooking process. Prolonged exposure to high temperatures during cooking or frying can diminish the wonderful flavours. For best results, sprinkle it over your dish immediately after cooking.
Just a pinch added to soups before serving or to sauces will bring out the flavours of your dishes even more. For example, Tasmanian pepper berries leave a soft pink hue in marinades or light-coloured sauces, making them look absolutely stunning. You can even soak the peppercorns overnight in a warm vinegar solution, then mix them with olive oil and herbs to create a phenomenal salad dressing.
For main courses, mountain pepper is excellent when crushed. You can crush the peppercorns with sea salt, garlic powder, caster sugar, chilli and dried oregano, then rub the mixture firmly into the meat before grilling or roasting.
And if you’re looking for a wonderful flavour to add a touch of elegance to your dessert, try mixing Tasmanian pepper with your ice cream. It’s a wonderful surprise, as this unique flavour infuses the vanilla in a way that makes you feel as though you’re in a Michelin-starred restaurant. Simply mix the grains into softened vanilla ice cream and freeze again before serving.
Tasmanian pepper is a truly versatile seasoning that enhances meals, improves your overall health and leaves your skin looking fantastic. So make sure you’ve got a jar of Tasmanian pepper on your spice rack!
The benefits of Tasmanian pepper
An interesting fact about the dark red, almost black berries of Tasmanian pepper is that they contain polygodial, an anti-inflammatory compound. As a result, it can soothe irritation and inflammation, whilst relieving itching and a burning sensation. It’s a spice that helps you stay in the best of health thanks to its antimicrobial properties.
Tasmanian pepper is packed with antioxidants that help keep free radicals away from your cells. When it comes to the skin, free radicals can cause premature ageing.
This pepper contains vitamins C and E, which nourish your skin and make it look brighter and more vibrant. It also helps to regenerate cells and revitalise the outer layer of the skin. However, this pepper is particularly beneficial for reducing dark circles under the eyes.
What does Tasmanian pepper do for the skin?
We’ve already touched on adding Tasmanian pepper to your daily diet for good health. But let’s explore further how it can also benefit your skin.
This pepper contains many active compounds that give your skin the boost it needs. Tasmanian pepper contains anthocyanins, chlorogenic acid, polygodial, flavones and glycosides.
– Slows down the signs of premature ageing of the skin
Why do blueberries get all the attention? Tasmanian black pepper berries contain more antioxidants that offer benefits for the skin. They combat the signs of premature ageing, including dullness, pigmentation, fine lines and sagging. Naturally occurring vitamins C and E give your skin what it needs to look its best.
– Stimulates collagen production
Anthocyanins can help your body produce more collagen. However, the production of this vital component in your skin’s matrix begins to slow down in your twenties. As collagen breaks down, your skin becomes duller and more wrinkled, and it starts to sag. If you don’t want to resort to Botox, this precious pepper from the Australian mountains can help you look naturally younger!

Mis teeb TASMANIAN pepper No. 79 eriliseks?
TASMANIAN pepper No. 79 on käsitsi korjatud ja hoolikalt töödeldud gurmeeklassi pipar. Erinevalt tavalise musta pipra massitoodangust on igal gurmeepipral oma unikaalne aroomiprofiil, mis tuleb esile värskelt jahvatades.
Kuidas pipart õigesti säilitada?
Hoidke pipart kuivas, pimedas kohas hermeetilises anumas. Jahvatage alati vahetult enne kasutamist – nii säilib aromaatsete õlide intensiivsus. Teralistena säilib pipar aastaid, jahvatatult kaotab aroomi mõne kuuga.
Milliste toitudega TASMANIAN pepper No. 79 sobib?
Gurmeepiprad sobivad nii liha-, kala- kui köögiviljatoitudega. Proovige lisada lõpuviimistlusena valmis roale, salatikastmetele või isegi magustoitudele. Iga pipar on erinev – eksperimenteerige julgelt!
